Winter Park is an excellent choice for a beginning skier. While Winter Park does feature some slopes for advanced skiers, the majority are for new snow sports enthusiasts. The staff at Winter Park is excellent at giving lessons and advice. There is a quite a bit of snow designated specifically for novices, so overcrowding is never an issue. Winter Park has excellent rental gear to cut down on some of the costs.

Like Winter Park, Breckenridge also has some advanced slopes, but they are higher up the mountain. The entire area surrounding the resort is geared towards the new skier, and everything from the trees to the lifts are safe for someone uncomfortable on the snow. Another benefit to Breckenridge is that it has some of the best extracurricular activities of any Colorado resort. Being surrounded by exciting nightlife does a lot to erase any deficiencies experienced on the slopes.
