American Singing Star Kimberly Caldwell to headline the 2010 RMSG Opening Ceremony, joined by Olympic Bobsled Gold Medalist Steve Holcomb who will Light the Torch!! 




              

In the tradition of the Olympic Games, the Rocky Mountain State Games will feature an Opening Ceremony, on Friday, July 30, at the Colorado Springs World Arena, to celebrate the beginning of the Rocky Mountain State Games weekend.

Singing star, television host and American Idol performer Kimberly Caldwell will headline a sensational evening of entertainment for the Opening Ceremony of the 2010 Rocky Mountain State Games on July 30 at the Colorado Springs World Arena at 7:00 p.m.

Her long-anticipated debut album, “Without Regret,” is due to be released on July 27, just ahead of her Rocky Mountain State Games Opening Ceremony performance. The rock/pop star will be performing with the help of AT&T, and 2,000 tickets to the event will be donated to the area’s military families by the performer and AT&T.

“Putting out my debut album is the ultimate dream come true,” says Caldwell about “Without Regret.” “I’ve been a performer my entire life and everything I’ve done has led up to this moment. I’m looking forward to people finally getting to know the real me, because I’m laying it all out there for them on this album.”

Steve Holcomb, who piloted his famous “Night Train” to the first United States Olympic gold medal in the four-man bobsled in 62 years in Vancouver, has been selected as the official torch lighter for the 2010 Rocky Mountain State Games, presented by AT&T.

The Colorado Springs resident, who paved the way for his gold medal run by training at the U.S. Olympic Training Center, will finish the evening at the Opening Ceremony on July 30 at the Colorado Springs World Arena by igniting the Official Games cauldron.
 
Holcomb continues the tradition of Olympic champions chosen to light the torch at State Games openings in Colorado Springs in recent years, adding his name to a list that includes Rulon Gardner, Michelle Kwan, Apolo Ohno, Derek Parra and Henry Cejudo.
 
In addition, this year's Opening Ceremony will be full of exciting family entertainment!  Come watch America's favorite Dunk Team, ACRODUNK, deliver cutting edge entertainment that will keep you on the edge of your seat!!  Yellow Design BMX will also be on hand again delivering thrilling tricks that are sure to keep you on your feet!

6:00 pm - Gates Open
6:30 pm - announcement to line up for Parade of Athletes (Lot A)
6:40 pm - athletes line up for Parade of Athletes (Lot A)
6:45 pm - athletes begin moving toward entrance to World Arena
7:00 pm - Ceremony begins
